Sending money back home just got a whole lot easier. With the latest development from Chipper Cash, customers can send money to friends and family in over 21 countries* – even if your loved one does not have a Chipper wallet.
Chipper is built on the foundational pillars of trust, empowerment, and financial literacy. Our vision is to unlock global opportunities and connect Africa. With an ever expanding number of destination countries available and the lowest cross-border rates, Chipper makes sending money to, from and across Africa easier and more affordable.
Let’s take a look at how it works and what you can do with it.
Send direct to mobile money
People who have a Chipper Cash account can now send transfers to aunties, best friends, individuals and businesses using a different financial service (such as any bank account or mobile wallet) anywhere, at no extra cost. This means people can easily send money home when it’s needed most. In practice, this means:
- If you need to get money to Rwanda or Uganda, you can send it directly to Chipper or any Airtel or MTN account.
- If you need to send money to a friend in South Africa, you can send rands to accounts at over 15 top banks.
- When sending to Ethiopia, you can send to anyone on the three primary mobile money providers and six different banks.
For many Africans, getting money sent home is hugely important. We know the ability of relatives to send money into the continent can represent part of a loved one’s income source, support a household, pay for school or medical fees, or even provide a much needed boost towards that sought-after item. We know there is a deep respect and love for parents, siblings and friends back home, and helping them with financial support is an important part of how this affection is demonstrated.
Borderless transactions to unite the world
We like to think we’re bringing more and more people together thanks to Chipper’s instant, secure, and reliable international transfers — which is especially important for friends and loved ones who may be separated by international borders.
Now, thanks to Chipper Cash opening up more countries so people can send and receive funds globally, more people than ever before will be empowered to send directly to any mobile money or bank account across the African continent and beyond.
