Country Director, Kenya
Role PurposeÂ
This is a full-time on-site role for a Country Director Kenya at Chipper Cash. The Country Director will be responsible for overseeing all operations and activities in Kenya, driving growth, managing relationships with stakeholders, and implementing strategic initiatives to support the company’s mission and objectives.You will serve as the primary liaison with government bodies, regulators, and key stakeholders to ensure smooth operations and compliance with local laws. This role requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and a deep understanding of the financial technology landscape in Kenya.

Main Responsibilities
‍
- Strategy, planning, and execution for business continuity and growth, particularly as it relates to (a) the Company’s operations in Kenya
- Identifying, developing, and maintaining strategic relationships with business and operational partners and governmental organizations in Kenya to ensure and improve business operations and continuity.
- Providing local market intelligence to help inform global functions on areas such as user behavior, target segments, and competitive intelligence. Deliver country-based marketing campaigns. . Â
- Administrative support related to country operations.
- Ensure the Chipper Cash is in compliance with local laws, legislation, and regulations relating to Chipper’s operations in Kenya.

Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and execute the country’s strategic roadmap aligned with Chipper global objectives.
- Lead market research and analysis to identify growth opportunities, customer needs, and potential risks.
- Provide strategic guidance on local market dynamics, customer preferences, and competition to drive business success.
Regulatory & Compliance Oversight:
- Act as the primary liaison with regulatory authorities, including the Central Bank of Kenya, Communications Authority, and other relevant government bodies.
- Ensure Chipper complies with all local laws, licensing requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
- Maintain strong relationships with regulators to advocate for policies that foster innovation while maintaining compliance.
Banking & Financial Partnerships:
- Develop and maintain relationships with local banks, mobile money operators, and other financial institutions.
- Negotiate and manage partnerships to ensure efficient operations and strategic alignment.
- Oversee implementation of payment and banking solutions in alignment with Kenyan market standards.
Market Representation:
- Serve as the public face of Chipper Cash in Kenya, attending conferences, events, and media engagements.
- Represent Chipper Cash in industry forums, contributing to thought leadership on financial inclusion and fintech innovation.
Key Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
- Minimum of 8–10 years of leadership experience, preferably in financial services, fintech, or a related sector.
- Strong background in regulatory compliance, licensing, and stakeholder management.
Skills & Competencies:
- Leadership, Strategic Planning, and Decision-Making skills
- Financial Management and Budgeting skills
- Experience in the fintech industry and knowledge of financial services
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with partners, regulators, and stakeholders
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or related field
- Experience working in the financial services sector in Africa is a plus
